Summary: Highly-skilled, experienced and tenacious operations and business development professional to work closely with IT software professional to successfully launch a mobile pizza application, create the required infrastructure to enable the effective execution of orders and deliveries of pizza by state-of-the-art food truck to be parked in key geographical areas within communities, i.e. college students/Waltham, on to Woburn, Burlington and eventually Somerville, Medford and, ultimately, Boston. Soft launch date May 2019.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Define and lead social enterprise strategy, including business planning, execution and evaluation of all social enterprise businesses.

    • Identify product opportunities and potential markets for social enterprises

    • Consistent with UTEC’s mission, values and objectives.

    • Develop business models in collaboration with UTEC leadership and outside resources that will: 1. Meet financial and programming objectives; 2. Provide workplace learning opportunities to enable successful future employment.

    • Partner with fiscal staff to develop and track key financial metrics to measure progress.

  • Oversee day-to-day execution of social enterprises to ensure operational excellence.

    • Supervise staff of social enterprise operations managers holding them accountable to agreed-upon outcomes.

    • Working with the CEO, develop operating models that deliver successful outcomes

    • Collaborate with UTEC staff to maximize youth growth and skill development.

    • Develop Social Enterprise staff.

  • Identify key partnership opportunities with businesses and organization that will lead to:

    • Revenue growth through the sale of UTEC products or acquisition of UTEC services.

    • Expense controls through in-kind donations, partnerships and competitive bidding.

    • Brand building – develop relationships with individuals and organizations that could be leveraged to grow social enterprises efficiently.

  • Partner with business development and marketing staffs to execute business development and marketing initiatives for all social enterprises

  • Work directly with leadership team to ensure social enterprise and workforce programming staffs have congruent goals and accountabilities as well as strong communication processes.

  • Participate as an active member of the UTEC leadership team.

  • Hire the right team.

  • Negotiate the locations.

  • Assess mobile application. What needs to be done differently, i.e. equipment, marketing?

  • Determine how to get the message to the people.

  • Establish Customer Service Center (800#) with live chat or other options?

  • How to address issues when they arise.

 Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of demonstrated business acumen and leadership experience covering strategic planning, business development and operational execution.

  • Passionate about being an effective coach, motivating and driving accountability to the highest level of excellence among direct reporting staff.

  • Demonstrated success managing projects, business planning and financial forecasting/tracking.

  • Data-driven acumen; committed to utilizing data effectively to improve operations and program quality.

  • Big-Thinker; ability to find innovative solutions to problems.

  • Self-Starter; works well independently, yet recognizes the power of “team”.

  • Perseverance; doesn’t give up.

  • Good sense of humor; ability to laugh at oneself a must!

  • College (undergraduate degree; preferably an MBA)

  • Highly effective negotiating and communication skills (written and spoken).

  • Good computer skills; proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and project management software.
